Bacharach, Germany Danke Connor (Bellingham/ Berkeley) for meeting me in a tiny village on the Rhine, even if it meant dragging that bike straight up 1000 stairs, and the company in Mainz. Hope your bike tour trip in Eastern Europe was awesome.
a little tiny village one street long on the Rhine. The hostel was on a crazy hill.
us, and about 100 fourth graders bouncin' off walls at this hostel

Mainz, Germany
Connor's birthday. Ghetto-style celebration away from home: the cake is a cookies n cream Clif bar. of course, a church holiday in the middle of the week, no bike rental places are open so we walk for hours, until we are all Mainzed out.

Southside Festival, Neuhausen Ob Eck, Germany Me and 40,000 Germans. Ich sprache keine Deutsch.

Danke Eva (Germany) from the bus for letting me ditch my backpack in her tent when I could put it nowhere else. Danke Andrea (Munich) for company and conversation in English at the Counting Crows show.

Counting Crows - I'm following them from Norwegian Wood?
"oh my god, you're American! You speak English!", they said to me. Brendan Benson and the Well Fed Boys (drummer is Matt)- I saw them at one of Brandi's random free ticket hookup shows at Bottom of the Hill in SF. Weird that they are playing in Germany.
Danke all the random people whom I talked to throughout the sleepless night after the
show at Southside Festival.
I think Counting Crows are trying to gain a European presence, since in the u.s. it's not going so hot for them lately.
Danke Caroline (Australia/ England) for offering a place to crash after the Radiohead
show.
So the plan was to just go, by myself or with whoever wants to, to see Radiohead. It wasn't so bad, a coupla hours on the train, then no lockers to leave my bag at the train station but nice people all around. Difficult to find tent where I ditched my bag by night- rain-flies make tent different color, and no flying flags during the night. But sleep was not an option anyway.

Radiohead
    soooooooooooooo many tents

Danke Lebriz (Turkey/ Heidelberg) for hitching a ride to the bus stop with me and watching my stuff while I ran back to the car, and again, for English conversation after the first day of Festival campout.
